During my stay in Turku, we had a good opportunity to visit Helsinki more than one time and enjoyed it each time. It’s a beautiful city, not that big so you can easily get everywhere and don’t get lost.
Our first visit to Helsinki, which was in September 2019 we mostly spend our time in coffee shops and in the restaurant because the weather didn’t play out the way we imagined it. It was consistently raining, but we still managed to see a bit of Helsinki.
Looking for a coffee shop, when it started to rain was an easy job because Helsinki is full with cafés. You can easily find a cute spot to relax and have a nice, warm cup of tea or coffee. I mostly prefer a cup of tea, when its not quite early in the morning.
Since the distance from Turku to Helsinki is only 2h with the bus, we decided to to a one-day trip and return in the evening. Our bus back to Turku, was around 21:30 pm so we had a long day to spend in Helsinki. After sitting for a bit in the café and eating at burgers&friends we didn’t know what to do else, because all malls and shops close at 20 pm and quite a few coffee shops close as well.
Tip: look up locations to go and visit beforehand and don’t go somewhere without a solid plan like we did :D
