The Secret Lagoon

The Secret Lagoon is located in the small village of Flúðir, in the heart of a highly geothermal active area. The landscape around the pool is very natural, the steam rising from the water gives everything a mystical appearance. The thermal pool has a constant temperature of 38/40°C - wonderful in all seasons.

We visited the secret lagoon on the way back to Reykjavik after our stay in vik, south of Iceland. There we stayed overnight in a private room in aribnb inn, where we were very warmly welcomed. After 1pm we arrived, luckily there was only one couple in the lagoon, after a little while they left and we had the whole secret lagoon to ourselves for a moment.

It was magically beautiful, between the mountains and hills on which snow rested. The weather was very windy, because the lagoon was a quite high and open, not sheltered from the wind. But the minute we were in the warm water, we had already forgotten the bad weather and enjoyed the natural spectacle. The weather was so cold and windy that my slightly damp hair got frozen.

After about half an hour, which we could spend together in the lagoon, more tourists joined us.

I would recommend to go to the secret lagoon as early as possible because then you will have the best chance to be alone and enjoy the time completely.

Despite the fact that the lagoon is called secret lagoon it is not really secret. More and more it becomes known, but it is not as well known as the blue lagoon. There is no entrance fee to this secret lagoon, but you can or should leave a small donation to support the place and keep it clean.

You should take care not to leave any litter behind and treat everything with respect. Additional, at the lagoon a small hut was set up, in which visitors are protected from the wind and thus can dress and undress in peace.

Definitely a stop, that I can recommend and which should be seen. Beautiful attractions, allowing you to gain experiences that you can't find anywhere else.

A little clip of the secret lagoon, look how beautiful it is!!
